I have to admit...for all it's campy nature, The Flash has a certain undeniable charm!!
Or it could be that Grant Gustin as Barry "The Flash" Allen is just extremely fuckable.
Either way I have been having fun with this show. It tries to bring of the comic feel into a television show more than really any other show. So much so, that this feels like your watching a comic.
Drawing of Geoff Johns & Ethan Van Sciver run in the comics we get to see what we couldn't on the page...The Speed Force! This is what Green Lantern could have been if they had followed Johns vision there. Oh, yeah, that was Johns and Van Sciver too!
This show is very much worth the effort when so much of what DC puts out in any medium other than the printed page, is pretty shitty. I'm talk'n to you "Man of Steel".
And then there is the supporting players...
COOL!!
SNOOZE...
The cast is ok. The Flash's sidekicks in the lab are fun and watchable. Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon (Get you act together IMDB, you photos are wrong!!) is very likable and I could see turning out to be a interesting character down the line.
Candice Patton's Iris West is really kind of boring. She is falling into the the Laurel Lance (from Arrow) roll here where she really doesn't have anything interesting to do but not know The Flashes secret identity. Hopefully that will change soon and the show won't let her character get lost like on Arrow.
But of course the one thing that we really tune in for...the special effects...are pretty spot on. There are quite a lot of them and they look good. I love living the the 21st Century.
SPOILER\NOT SPOILER!!
A possible spoiler pix if you know the comics. MORE HERE...
Give The Flash a try. It's lighter than Arrow, but just dark enough to fit into the DCU. I would love this Flash (and the current Arrow), to be part of the new DC movie franchise. These are both proving to be better than what they are putting out in theaters!! I doubt it. I think they already have plans and we will not get the continuity that we have with Marvel U.
